iBrave "Lifetime" service just died.
So I bought in to this "lifetime" hosting, iBrave, as it was offering unlimited websites with unlimited everything. It wasn't the fastest, it honestly kinda sucked, and there was no service to be heard of.
I didn't really care, though, as I was frustrated that my hosting at SiteGround, a more reputable brand, was going to be $30 per month to keep the same service I had. From a "promotional rate" of $3 per month, that's just ridiculous for a personal website. So I looked elsewhere.
To iBrave's credit, they were offering $99 for a lifetime, and I certainly got my money's worth. I subscribed about 2-3 years ago, and for roughly 3 months of moneys I would be spending at SiteGround for the same service, I figured I might as well.
The other option would be to backup my site, and resubscribe with another email, and load back up my site. But, domains and DNS and all that time down would be annoying.
And so, I got it, used it, and now it's dead.
It's funny, though. This post https://www.reddit.com/r/YouShouldKnow/comments/zf8xut/ysk_a_company_offering_a_lifetime_membership_or/ was one I saw when I first started using iBrave, and they were certainly right! You should be wary of lifetime subscriptions!
However, like I was saying, 3 months of the price I was about to pay for the service I got at least 2 years out of, isn't horrible.
But now I have a VPS and it's pretty static and cheaper pricing than both put together. I have more control over what I install and it just runs better so I don't have to worry about much.
Goodbye, iBrave! I guess I won't let my personal site that gets updated once a year sit and rot on your servers after all.
